I have often found myself wondering how (or if) I should use a story in a sermon. When in doubt; stick with the text. Good reminder.

Is a church service the best place to introduce a teenager to Christ?

Any place we can get the gospel to them would seem to me to be the place. I do know that we were told to go and they were not told to come.

Since this kid did not enjoy the service will he want to come to any other activity we have?

I do not know that you know if he liked it or not. But we can't change the message to make him like it. The message could have been an evangelistic message but it is not really the time to make that decision and we can't preach evangelistic messages every time. We have to go to them and have messages that can reach them

Would we be better off keeping the church for the saved and just taking the Gospel to them?

I don't think so. I believe that it is best to go but we certainly know that some will want to learn and coming will be a great way to learn for them

Is the church service supposed to be an evangelistic arm of the church family?

no but it doesn't say that people that are lost can't come and hear the gospel either

Tremendous article, Trent. Thanks for posting it and passing it along to us. Thought that was funny about being afraid of what a 12 year old thinks. It is funny but often true. May God help us to put the boat out, engage in spiritual conversation, and be willing to challenge them to live for God!
