God builds their faith!

 

Joshua 2

 

·        As you move forward in the abundant life that God has for you he will put people in your path

·        He will give you opportunities to see His great power

·        He will give you the means to accomplish His purposes

·        He will give you small tokens to build your faith in His promises

·        He understands that you need to grow in your faith

·        It is not so much a leap of faith as steps of obedience

 

I.                     The cautiousness of faith 2:1

a.      Though they had the promise of His power and presence they did not just run in unprepared

b.      There is a difference between faith and foolishness

c.      God is preparing encouragers and motivators for the rest of the congregation

 

II.                   The convictions of new faith

a.      The courage to risk your life for something you believe in

                                                              i.      She hid the men 2:4

                                                            ii.      She helped them escape 2:15

b.      Caused her to know some things

                                                              i.      That God had given them the land 2:9

                                                            ii.      That the fear of God had come on them 2:9

c.      Her faith came because of hearing what God had done 2:10

                                                              i.      The red sea

                                                            ii.      Destroying their enemies

d.      She was convinced that the Lord is God 2:11

 

III.                  Her new faith gave her cause

a.      She wants to see her family saved 2:12-13

b.      She is convinced of the need to urgently press her need on them

 

IV.               The cord was her flag of conviction

a.      With it she saves the spies 2:15

b.      The scarlet cord will remind the spies of her kindness to them 2:18

c.      All who abide under this scarlet thread will be saved 2:19

d.      They leave she flies the flag of her salvation 2:21

 

V.                 The spies are convinced

a.      That the Lord has already delivered the land into their hands 2:24

b.      They have seen a convert

c.      They have seen the fear or reverence for their God

d.      They know that God is going to use them
