Job

Job_21:15 What Is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?

What a question. One that we would say would border on heresy. Job is asking this question on behalf of the wicked.(vs.7) In the first part of this chapter Job is proclaiming that it seems as if the wicked always prosper. Their seed is established (vs.8) their houses are safe (vs.9) and it seems as if they never have problems or need of anything. This is a strange question at first glance, but an important one. If we are to take the gospel to the wicked of the world that seem to have everything they want, this will be a question we will face. “Why do I need God? I have everything I need.” Job quickly notices and states that although they seem to have it all, their life is one that is empty and with out purpose as the stubble before the wind.(vs.18) Our message must be to the lost world that the only life with purpose and fulfillment is the life that Jesus Christ can give.
