Luk_6:12-13 Praying for wisdom

Here we see that Jesus was ready to choose his disciples, but it is interesting that before he chose who his disciples would be that he spent all night in prayer seeking the direction of God. The Bible says that he went up into a mountain to pray. I believe this signifies he wanted to go to a quite place to pray for a specific thing. I think as Christians we always need to be looking for disciples, but I think we need to seek the face of God and spend time asking Him to give us wisdom and to show us who we should be training. Luk_15:16

"And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him" Luk_15:16

"fain" is to covet, desire or lust after. What are you desiring to fill your belly with? the same things that the lost world are filling their bellies with? Or do you desire, covet and even lust after filling your belly with the total plan of God for your life? Are your dreams, vision and plan for your life more God sized than filling your belly with the things the pigs eat on...

When we take what the Father gives us and spend it on ourselves we will end up empty, starving, unfulfilled and alone every time with no man giving unto us. However compare that with
Luk_6:38 where God says if we will take what He give us and give it away then men will give into our bosom until we are running over. What will you do with that which the Father has given you? JDB

Luk_17:9

God owes us nothing. Even should He do something great in and through us for His names sake we are still nothing. We are still unprofitable servants. We are only doing that which is our duty to do. Do your part, do what He has commanded you, reach the world in every generation, do your duty! JDB

Luk_23:34

If we learned to forgive (Col_3:13Eph_4:32), no doubt we would see more people believe on Him because of our testimony. (Luk_23:42, Luk_23:47)
