Accepting Defeat

Judges 1:34 And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountain: for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley:

God has given His people victory after victory for many years now. It is now time for them to live out who they are. They know victory. They know how to defeat their enemies but it doesn’t take long for them to be satisfied with just getting by.

This chapter is a list of defeat after defeat of God’s people. It is like they just got used to it and expected defeat to be their way of life!

Is that how we are living? Are we not living up to who we are? Are we allowing the daily circumstances to defeat us?

Tomorrow’s reading Judges 2

Sharing the honor

Numbers 27:20 And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.

Moses is about to leave the scene. God tells him to bring Joshua in front of all the people and share some of his honor with Joshua. That is sort of what we do in ordination. We lay hands on another man saying that we believe in him. We are publicly trying to honor that man so that he along with all the other people will know that those laying on the hands recognize that God has a plan for his life.
