Belarus Has Endured Five Months of Protests with 32,000 Detained or Imprisoned

For the last five months, Belarus has endured ongoing protests after many people were upset that Aliaksandr Lukashenka’s removed constitutional restrictions on presidential terms and did not allow all of his main competitors to participate in the election.

Between 10-14% of the total population participated in protests against this overreach of power and more than 32,000 people have been detained or imprisoned in recent months.

Please pray for the country of Belarus. It looks like the current situation will continue for a while.

There are very few missionaries to Belarus. The country has a population of 9.4 million people. 48.3% of the population are Orthodox Christian, 41.1% are none religious, 7.1% are Catholic and 3.3% follow other religions.
