Today’s reading Jeremiah 23-25

Jeremiah 23:21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.

There are enough preachers, pastors, evangelists, and missionaries in the USA to bring this nation back to God and to get the gospel around the world. There are well over 300,000 evangelical congregations in the USA. There are far more ministers than there are churches. There are many more studying in schools.

Why do we not see God’s work moving forward? I believe that it is because so many run but they were not told to run. They speak but it is not what God told them to speak.

We have a form of godliness but we deny the power thereof.

I want to be a God sent preacher. The only way I can know that I am is to be a student of His Book and then to declare what He says. If my sermons do not drip with the Word of God then I am likely preaching my own message. I must get the message from the book, say what the book says, be a voice for the text.

People much prefer emotionalism, story telling, philosophical help, psychobabble than they do the Word of God. Even God’s people have often lost their taste for the Word of God.

Preachers open the Bible, read a text and then leap off into whatever they want to say. The reason so many think that God and the Bible are the way they are is the cultural style of preaching that we have developed. Rarely do we hear a man say, this is what God is saying in this verse.

I want to be a God sent preacher. I hope you are looking for God sent messages!

A good reminder to only say what the Bible says! but how do we make sure that we don’t have our own agenda when preaching?
