Latin America News: Praying in the Streets of Peru

Written by Savannah Morgan, OGTC Intern in Peru

This little boy was photographed in an empty street in Peru, praying to God. He was asking the Lord for the virus to end and for people who are currently sick to get better. His parents were shocked at their 6-year old’s prayer. Even the children around us know the difficulties we are facing.

This little boy and his family are Catholics. They don’t understand why all of their saints, sacraments, and prayers aren’t saving them from being sick or from losing their livelihood. They want answers. They want relief. But what they need most of all is a Savior. They need to know that if they were to die today without knowing Jesus, the eternity that awaits them is hell.

Who is going to tell them? Who is going to say, “I will go to Peru to share the Gospel with families like this?” Who is going to surrender to be a missionary so they can reach people that don’t know Jesus as their Savior? You have seen the news. You know how many people are dying right now and are probably going to spend their eternity in hell. You have seen the many praying to gods that cannot save. What will you do to reach these people with the Gospel?
