Philosophy of Missions [1/4]

Pioneer Senders I would like to challenge you to develop a proper world view and a Biblical philosophy of mission. The above chart is taken from William Carey’s famous Enquiry. God greatly used the little booklet to radically change the mission philosophy of many ministers in Carey’s day. It was, as seen in the chart, a wonderful collection of teaching on the theology behinds missions and some history of what had currently been done in the world.

Over the next couple of posts I am going to challenge you Pioneer Senders to take some important steps in learning the theology and history of missions. My prayer is that is will help you develop the correct philosophy of mission. As Senders we should become “missiologists”. Missiology is often defined as the science of missions. It includes the formal study of the theology of mission, the history of missions, the concomitant philosophies of mission and their strategic implementation in given cultural settings.

It will help us invest our time, energy, and study more strategically. Allowing us to be better stewards and to truly accelerate what should be accelerate and deter what needs to be deterred.  There are many resources available at our finger tips.

Pioneer Challenge: I challenge you to read the Enquiry. You will see why it was greatly used of God to be a catalyst for needed change.
