Today’s reading Jeremiah 11-14

Jeremiah 14:14 Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.

How can you know that what you are saying is what God says? How can you know if your pastor is preaching the truth, what God says?

Pastors, preachers, often stand and preach. They mention the Bible. They use the Bible as a launching pad but little more. It is rare that we hear messages that are right from the Bible. Preachers are known as preachers not teachers. They have a message that the people need to hear but Bible students often have a hard time seeing where the Bible said exactly that.

There were prophets then that were preaching lies and saying things that God did not say. The same is happening today and maybe even to a much greater degree.

This is a call to go back to preaching what the Bible says and not what I want it to say. It is a time to preach the Word of God and be a voice for the text not a time to protect our culture and say what we as Americans think ought to be said.

Let’s not preach our own message. Let’s get into God’s Word and let it preach its own message under the power of the Holy Spirit!
