With a population at just over 2.6 million[1], Qatar is a small Muslim nation with growing influence located in the Middle East. Qatar occupies the Qatar peninsula, which is a small peninsula on the northeast side of the Arabian Peninsula.

Qatar is a relatively wealthy nation, with the highest per capita income in the world. Most residents of the country are expatriates, however, with citizens comprising only 12% of the population. Interestingly, non-Arab foreigners make up most of Qatar’s population, with Indians and Nepalis having the largest communities.

Islam is the predominant religion in Qatar, with Sharia law being the main source of Qatari legislation according to the nation’s constitution. Qatar is only about 1% evangelical Christian[2], and the majority of those Christians are foreigners. No foreign missionaries are known to operate openly in the country as Christians are limited by strict anti-proselytism laws.

I challenge you to pray for the country of Qatar. Pray that believers in the country would be emboldened to share their faith. Pray that the Lord would open doors for laborers to enter the country, preach the gospel, and establish churches. Pray that the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ would penetrate this dark country.
