Various groups of migrants have made the over 100 km perilous journey across the Atlanta from Africa. The goal for many of them is to get to Europe through the Canaries.
Spain has built temporary accommodation for the migrants to help ease tension, but migrants continue to arrive. Just recently, emergency services were called to rescue 60 sub-Saharan African migrants travelling in a wooden boat about 13 km south of Fuerteventura. The people reportedly come from countries like Guinea, Gambia, Senegal, Cameroon, and Comoros.
Please pray for these folks who have risked their lives and for wisdom for the authorities to know how to help them and work through this situation. The Canary Islands are now home to 23,000 migrants. Please pray for labourers for these Islands and the entire country of Spain.
